MCPCanary bot
Requests with this User-Agent come from MCP Canary:
MCPCanary/1.0 (+https://mcpcanary.com/bot/)
The same User-Agent is on every check: the public status pages, the free browser test, and the monitors that customers set up for their own servers.
What the status checks do
- Once a day per server, from one server in the US. A failed check is repeated once, 30 seconds later.
- Connect with Streamable HTTP (then legacy HTTP + SSE), and list the tools. This is what an AI agent does when it starts.
- Never call a tool. Never send credentials. A server that asks for sign-in shows as "up (sign-in required)".
- Publish the result: status, response time, protocol version, tool names, and tool changes.
Stop the checks
Email [email protected] from your domain with the server URL. We stop the checks and remove the status page within 2 working days.
Monitor your own server
A daily handshake shows only that the server answers. To find out within a minute that a tool returns wrong data, set up a monitor that calls a real tool and checks the answer. See the docs.
